Spring is Here!
Hello lovers! Now that spring is in full effect, we cannot stop daydreaming about warmer weather. Obviously our spring and summer activities are going to look a little different this year! That being said, we think it is important to find ways to get fresh air while also social distancing. This can be especially difficult if you live in a big city and do not have access to a safe outdoor space. We are currently living in the wonderful city of Philadelphia, and while we do have a small park nearby, it is often populated with others who also want to get out of the house! We get it, cabin fever is real.
Time to Hit the Pavement
Ultimately, we decided to take to the sidewalks of our lovely neighborhood so that we could get our creative blood flowing. In fact, there have been studies that show us walking increases blood flow to our brains! To piggy back on that study, it has been shown that increased blood flow to our brains increases our creativity. If there was ever an argument to get out and walk around, this is it! If you can go for a distanced walk around your neighborhood, park, or treadmill (hey, whatever works!) we highly encourage it.
Another bonus to exploring our neighborhood on foot is that we get to see things from a different perspective. Walking allows us to slow down and really take in our surroundings. All of our senses are stimulated – from the smell of fresh air to the sound of birds chirping. We find that this activity has both a calming and energizing effect. After our morning walks, we feel super relaxed and ready to tackle the day! With an elevated mood, we can handle anything that comes our way. Could the effects of walking get any better?! Give it a shot and see how you feel, you might be pleasantly surprised!
Pink Bananas and Unicorns
Speaking of heightened creativity, we want to introduce you to the story behind our Mythical Banana Tee. This was one of our first designs that was born from a what if/why not scenario. How could we create something unique that speaks on many levels? Unicorns remind us of simpler times – think Lisa Frank and tapestries from the Middle Ages. A magical, mythical creature that has healing powers. A symbol of positivity.
What if you were to discover a unicorn somewhere startling, like a banana? Better yet, a pink banana! Because, why not? We love the absurd – the unrealistic silliness that comes from the unexpected. To create something that sparks intrigue and curiosity gives us so much satisfaction! If at least one person can look at this design and have a little chuckle, then we have done our job. At the end of the day, we want our designs to encourage individuality and self-expression.
